This is an exact replica of the special helmet worn by Ayrton Senna during the 1992 Japanese Grand Prix weekend.
The design maintains its historical yellow color and the characteristic blue and green stripes on the sides. Given his strong ties with Japan, Senna elected to add the Japanese flag on each side of the helmet for the 1992 edition of the Suzuka GP.
Senna and Japan are always going to be connected since the Brazilian sealed his three Formula 1 world titles in the legendary Suzuka Circuit while driving Honda-powered McLaren cars. For the 1992 weekend and with the title already decided in favor of Williams’ Nigel Mansell, Senna was going to push for the win at Japan and try to reach second place in the World Drivers’ Championship.
However, after qualifying third behind the untouchable Williams cars, the Honda engine on his car failed in the early stages of the race and the Brazilian was forced to retire. This race was the last time Senna drove a Honda-powered car around the mythical Suzuka.
