After the big controversy at the end of the 2021 Formula 1 season, the revamped series starts its 2022 campaign with the 2022 Bahrain Grand Prix, at the Bahrain International Circuit in Sakhir on March 20th. This will be the fourth time an F1 season started in Bahrain, as it happened previously in 2006, 2010, and last year.
The race will be the inaugural of the 22-round calendar for the 2022 F1 campaign (the number of GPs could be subject to change), and the 18th edition of the Bahrain round.

The inaugural race at the site came in 2004, with Michael Schumacher winning it for the Scuderia Ferrari, while Lewis Hamilton has won the three most recent editions of the Bahrain Grand Prix (not including the 2020 Sakhir Grand Prix, as it is considered a different event).
The most successful driver at the track is Hamilton, with five wins (all with Mercedes), while the Scuderia Ferrari and Mercedes lead all teams with six victories apiece.
