This is an exact replica of the helmet worn by British driver Nigel Mansell during the 1986 Formula One season.
The design, Mansell’s typical throughout his career, is divided between a white section in the front —surrounding the visor—, and a blue area in the back of the helmet. The two areas are mixed with white and red arrows in the sides —the arrows are united on the back of the helmet and both are pointing towards the visor—. The colors of the Union Flag are the most important aspect of the livery, however, the tone of blue changed from navy to denim blue.
During the 1986 season, a battle with his teammate at Williams, Nelson Piquet, prompted a heated finale at the Australian Grand Prix at Adelaide. Mansell was on course to win the title due to his third place in the race, but a tyre explosion on lap 64 kept him from winning his maiden title. Mansell won five races during the year and finished second in the championship behind Alain Prost.
