Lando Norris has been a Formula 1 driver since the 2019 Australian Grand Prix, the first race of that campaign. He’s driven for McLaren since his debut in the pinnacle of motor racing and has achieved six podiums, one Pole Position and three Fastest Laps throughout his career in the series. Norris has started 65 races and has scored 341 points.
Its beginnings
Norris’ racing career started with his interest in karts when he was seven years old. Then, he won European karting championships in 2013, (at age 14) and the CIK-FIA World Championship — KF in 2014.
In 2014, Norris started his car racing career in the Ginetta Junior Championship, finishing third in the standings after winning four of the 20 races in the calendar and scoring 11 podiums in the entire season.
Then, Lando Norris won the 2015 MSA Formula Championship with Carlin, as he won eight of the 30 races in the schedule. That same year, Norris competed in the ADAC Formula 4 Championship and the Italian Formula 4 Championship. He won three titles in the 2016 season, in the Eurocup Formula Renault 2.0, Formula Renault 2.0 NEC and the Toyota Racing Series.
He had already made his debut in the FIA Formula 3 European Championship in 2016, competing in three races, before winning the championship in the same series in 2017, with nine wins in 30 races. Also, he finished second in the 2017 Macau Grand Prix in his second participation in the race.
F1 debut
Norris competed in two races of the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2017 before competing in the entire calendar in 2018, finishing second behind current Mercedes driver George Russell. He already was McLaren’s test driver in 2018, and ultimately made his F1 debut in the 2019 Australian Grand Prix. In his first season, Norris scored 49 points and finished 11th in the World Drivers’ Championship.
In his second F1 campaign, Norris scored his first podium in the first race, the 2020 Australian Grand Prix. He was ninth in the 2020 standings with 97 points.
The 2021 Formula 1 season was Lando Norris’ best in F1 so far, as he scored 160 points and finished sixth in the World Drivers’ Championship after scoring four podiums in the campaign.
In the first five races of the 2022 F1 season, Norris has scored 35 points and recorded one podium.
Norris has been quite popular among fans since entering F1 because of his activities on Social Media and his involvement in sim racing. He’s also been known for the many different helmet designs he’s worn throughout his career so far and the creativity he often puts into his helmet designs.
