This is an exact replica of the helmet worn by Formula One World Champion James Hunt during his title-winning campaign in 1976.
The English driver’s typical helmet design consisted of a black helmet with his name written in bold letters on both sides of the safety device. Another key feature in Hunt’s original livery is the three stripes positioned on the sides and the back, colored in red, blue and yellow, the colors of his school: the Wellington College.
The 1976 F1 season is probably the most popular in the history of the sport. Hunt battle with Niki Lauda for the Drivers’ Championship will always be remembered. A fierce rivalry full of respect ended with Hunt achieving the title after Lauda had to miss two races due to injuries from his near-fatal accident at Germany.
The English driver won the championship by a single point over the Austrian champion. Hunt won six races in 1976 and reached the podium eight times.
