The 16th race of the 2021 Formula 1 World Championship calendar took place on October 10th at Turkey, and Mercedes’ Valtteri Bottas won from Pole Position in a race that had to be run with the intermediates tyres, as the track was damp for the whole event.
Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez followed the Finnish driver to the podium, giving Red Bull a double podium finish in a race in which the Austrian outfit painted its cars in white to celebrate the partnership with engine manufacturer Honda, which will leave F1 at the end of the year.
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc put his Ferrari in fourth place after a brilliant race in which he was even in the lead before his own pit-stop.
Moreover, Lewis Hamilton lost the lead of the World Drivers’ Championship after recovering to finish fifth after starting 11th due to a 10-place grid penalty for exceeding engine parts. Verstappen now leads the WDC with a six-point gap over the seven-time champion with six races left.
