Lando Norris’ F1 helmet for the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix is quite spectacular. The design was inspired by a small mishap from the British racer in the 2023 edition of the Hungarian Grand Prix when he broke Max Verstappen’s winner’s trophy.

Lando Norris finished second in the 2024 Hungarian Grand Prix after a bit of controversy. Having inherited the lead through the team’s strategy, Norris was forced to give up first place to his teammate Oscar Piastri late in the race. McLaren explained to the British driver that he pitted before his teammate only to cover threats from behind and secure his second place.
As a result of coming out of the boxes with fresher tyres and his teammate Piastri being yet to pit, Norris emerged at the front once Piastri made his scheduled pit stop. It prompted an uncomfortable situation for the team, but Piastri eventually won his maiden Grand Prix, and many questioned why Norris wasn’t allowed to win, given he needed points for the World Drivers’ Championship.
Design and Inspiration Behind Lando Norris’ 2024 Hungarian GP Helmet
According to Formula 1’s official website, Norris designed the helmet in collaboration with Herend Porcelain.The company also creates the magnificent trophies of the Hungarian Grand Prix podium, one of which (worth $35,000) Norris broke by accident in the 2023 race podium.
“I obviously had no intention of ever doing such a thing and I know how much it means to the Hungarians and part of their culture and so forth… Of course I want to enjoy the time, but it was never my intention to do such a thing,” Norris apologized after the 2023 event.
Norris’ design for 2024 had similarities with Verstappen’s trophy from the 2023 race, which was supplied to him weeks after the Grand Prix.
Norris posted the helmet on Instagram and captioned the photo with the following message:
“Honour to team up with @herendporcelain on this hand painted masterpiece for Hungary. When we got together we knew we wanted to do something special and here it is. From the bottom of my heart thank you (and sorry about last year) ❤️”
