Lando Norris Helmet British GP 2023: An Insane Chrome Design

LNBGP

McLaren‘s amazing return to the Chrome livery on its Formula 1 cars deserved this spectacular chromed F1 helmet from Lando Norris.

This unique helmet was driven to second place in the 2023 British Grand Prix by the British driver, who even led the race in the early stages, before giving up the lead to the eventual winner, Max Verstappen’s Red Bull RB19 car.

You can pre-order this design and we will definitely answer your call. We loved this helmet as much as every McLaren F1 fan, due to its old-school look.

McLaren wore chromed cars from 2006 to 2014 and had some amazing days with that McLaren-Mercedes livery. The team won the World Drivers’ Championship with Lewis Hamilton in 2008, with the chromed, Vodafone-sponsored MP4-23.

That title is still McLaren’s most recent title, but the team fought for the championship with Hamilton in 2010 and won races consistently throughout the 2007-2012 period.

McLaren also had Oscar Piastri with a career-best finish of fourth, as the Woking team had tremendous speed on its cars.

Norris is currently ninth in F1’s 2023 World Drivers’ Championship standings with 42 points and now has seven podiums in his Formula 1 career (since 2019).

On the teams’ side, McLaren is fifth in the championship, with a comfortable advantage over Alpine.

Introduction to Lando Norris’s Helmet for the 2023 British GP

For his fifth race at home, the British Lando Norris wore this beautiful chromed helmet which was both an homage to McLaren’s past days and also a good marketing option for Google Chrome.

There are two main features in Lando Norris’ F1 helmet for the 2023 British Grand Prix: the chromed livery and Google Chrome’s logo at the top of the helmet.

McLaren’s partnership with Google started in March 2022 and has been growing ever since, with Google named the Official Primary Partner of the team.

Moreover, the chromed designs and livery for the 2023 British GP in Silverstone were also made to celebrate McLaren Racing’s 60th anniversary, since the racing team started in the 1963 Tasman Series.

The team’s website described the celebration with the following words: “The Chrome livery is a celebration of McLaren’s fan-favourite design which the team carried from 2006 to 2014.

McLaren’s chrome era was defined by Lewis Hamilton’s momentous Driver’s World Championship in 2008, the same year in which Google launched its pioneering, super-fast Chrome browser.

Google Chrome is used across the team’s operations, supporting performance both at track and at the McLaren Technology Centre. Like Formula 1, the Chrome browser is centered on speed, reliability and security.

The Chrome brand spearheads the livery takeover at Silverstone to connect McLaren fans with an iconic livery in the team’s history.

This livery is part of McLaren’s ongoing celebrations of its 60th birthday, which has seen the Formula 1 team and Arrow McLaren IndyCar team revisit other heritage liveries, notably commemorating the iconic Triple Crown achievement.”

Comparison to Previous Helmets

Norris had special designs for the British Grand Prix before, with the 2020 edition being heavily famous, as it was designed by six-year-old Eva, a fan of the British driver who created a white helmet with crayon drawings.

At the time, Norris said this about that particular design: “I love it – it’s very original. We went through a huge amount of designs, probably thousands of them… I wanted to go with something that was just very original, something I wasn’t used to, something that probably means a lot to the person, and it means a lot to me.

It reminds me of myself when I was younger, designing helmets, drawing away when I was five or six years old.”

Long-Term Trends in His Helmet Designs

In 2024, Norris has also worn a chromed helmet design in the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix. This chromed helmet for the race in Monaco was also made to honor Ayrton Senna, with Norris’ design having the color and design scheme of Senna’s famous helmet.

Conclusion

McLaren and chrome liveries have been incredibly famous since the team adopted the style from 2006 to 2014, influenced by Lawrence Manning. Manning is an Airbrush Artist who initially proposed and developed the chrome livery for McLaren.

Norris’ helmet for the 2023 British Grand Prix was simply outstanding. Although he didn’t manage to win the event, the chrome designs were one of the biggest parts of the weekend, due to the historic style on the cars’ and drivers’ helmets.

Zak Brown, CEO, McLaren Racing, explained his views on the chrome designs for the 2023 British GP: “It’s no secret that racing fans love McLaren’s classic chrome livery.

Google Chrome wanted to bring back elements of this iconic livery to celebrate our team’s history at the British Grand Prix, and we’re excited to be able to give our fans what they want.

I’m sure this livery will bring back great memories for many of our fans, and I can’t wait to see it out on track at our home race.”
