Lewis Hamilton won the inaugural 2021 Qatar Grand Prix to enter the last two races of the 2021 Formula 1 calendar with an eight-point gap behind Red Bull’s Max Verstappen, who finished second in the race.
The race, at the Losail International Circuit, was a surprise in terms of overtaking action, as it was expected to prove a difficult layout to produce wheel-to-wheel action.

Hamilton took his second consecutive win, after winning in Brazil, and now has seven wins in 2021, while Verstappen has nine. The Dutchman could win the title in the next race at Saudi Arabia, if he outscored Hamilton by 18 points.
Third in Qatar was Fernando Alonso, who returned to an F1 podium for the first time since the 2014 Hungarian Grand Prix, when he drove for the Scuderia Ferrari.
