This is an exact replica of the helmet worn by Formula 1 champion and Indy 500 winner Emerson Fittipaldi in the 1996 Indycar season.

During his years in the United States single-seater category, Fittipaldi wore his traditional helmet design. However, some changes were made to the livery. To the dark blue from his F1 helmet, white spheres were added, as well as the Brazilian flag. On the red area, silver stripes can be seen.

The helmet seems futuristic.

In 1996, Fittipaldi retired from Indycar after suffering serious injuries in a crash at Michigan.

The livery is inspired by Damon’s father Graham’s helmet design. Graham Hill, a two-time F1 World Champion, was a member of the London Rowing Club and painted his helmet with the club’s insignia. Damon wore a design exactly like his father’s during his F1 career.

In 1996, Damon became the first son of a World Champion to win the championship himself, after he achieved ten podiums, including eight victories for Williams.
