This is an exact replica of the helmet worn by Formula One champion Niki Lauda in the 1984 season.

The livery is painted in Lauda’s iconic red, but opposite to his original design (with the name of the Austrian champion written in white letters on each side), this helmet has the logo of Lauda Air, the Austrian’s champion airline. The top has a white ring which includes Lauda’s main sponsor at the time.

In the 1984 campaign, Lauda won the World Drivers’ Championship ahead of his teammate Alain Prost by half a point. He won five races and had a great run of six podiums in the last seven races to seal the title in the final race at Portugal after he stormed through the field from 11th to second.
