This is a replica of the helmet worn by F1 race-winner Didier Pironi in the 1982 Formula 1 season.

Pironi’s usual helmet was white with blue details. The tweaks between the different helmets throughout his career were mainly driven by sponsorship.

In this case, Pironi drove for Ferrari in 1982 and his helmet included a Marlboro sponsorship at the top of the visor.

The 1982 season was tragic for Ferrari, as Pironi’s teammate Gilles Villeneuve died in an accident at Zolder, and Pironi saw his title quest and his F1 career end after leg injuries suffered in a crash at Hockenheim.

Pironi won two races in 1982 and finished second in the World Drivers’ Championship, five points behind the winner, Keke Rosberg, despite missing four Grands Prix.
