Red Bull’s Dutch driver Max Verstappen won the 2022 F1 Spanish Grand Prix after recovering from an early mistake in the race, taking advantage of Charles Leclerc‘s Ferrari suffering mechanical issues and benefitting from team orders to his teammate Sergio Pérez.
Pérez finished second and George Russell was third for Mercedes. Carlos Sainz also recovered from an early mistake to finish fourth with his Ferrari, while Sir Lewis Hamilton was fifth after falling to last due to a crash with Kevin Magnussen, which was certainly caused by the Haas driver.
Hamilton was fourth after a great overtake on Sainz, but a water leak forced him to slow down and lose that place to the Spaniard.
Overall, the race was exciting due to the cars following each other quite well at a difficult circuit for overtaking, and also because high tyre degradation generated lots of pit stops.
