The 2022 Japanese Grand Prix was celebrated on October 9th and it was a very special round of the 2022 Formula 1 World Championship season, as Japan and its unique fans returned to F1 after three years due to the pandemic.
The race wasn’t really special, as it was controversial and was shortened due to the rain and the poor visibility for the drivers. Moreover, the FIA made weird choices, as awarding full points despite not completing 75% of the race distance and making a crane enter the track while drivers were going around unknowingly.
Max Verstappen’s Red Bull won the 2022 World Drivers’ Championship at Suzuka with the Dutchman’s win on the rain, and he was followed by his teammate Sergio Pérez. Meanwhile, Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc was third after a mistake in the final corner meant he was given a harsh five-second penalty.
In terms of the positives seen, the return of the legendary Suzuka Circuit and seeing many new helmet designs for the Japanese event are always fantastic. This year, several drivers decided to create special designs for the Japanese round of the Formula 1 World Championship.
Among the drivers who wore special designs were home hero Yuki Tsunoda, who wore a helmet designed by Hiromi Nagaoka for his first home Grand Prix. Sebastian Vettel also wore a special design to celebrate Arai and the helmet company’s contribution to his career.
Sebastian Vettel’s helmet for the event was lovely, and the tribute to Arai was unique.
Mercedes F1’s drivers, Sir Lewis Hamilton and George Russell also put on special designs for the 2022 Japanese Grand Prix. On his side, Lewis Hamilton’s helmet was a colorful design, made in collaboration with artist Takashi Murakami.
Russell’s helmet was a lovely blue design with white dots. Other drivers with special helmets for Suzuka were Mick Schumacher, Alex Albon, Valtteri Bottas, and Sergio Pérez.
Keep in mind that almost all these special designs could be replicated by CM Helmets, and we have quite a large directory of special helmets created for certain races in Formula 1 history, including past races in Suzuka.
