Formula 1 returns this weekend with the 2022 British Grand Prix at Silverstone. It is a big event in the calendar, as Silverstone hosted the first-ever World Championship race on May 13th, 1950.
The series has several ties to Great Britain, as seven of the 10 teams are based in the UK, although some, like Mercedes, do not represent the country (Mercedes represents Germany).
In Formula 1 history, there have been drivers from 23 countries who have won at least one Grand Prix.

Out of those 23 countries, Great Britain has the most wins, with British drivers winning 307 races. Sir Lewis Hamilton is the biggest name on that list, with 103 wins and seven championships, both records (joint-record in terms of titles) in Formula 1 history.
Nigel Mansell, the 1992 F1 World Champion, is second among British drivers with 31 wins, with three-time champion Sir Jackie Stewart (27 wins) third.
19 British drivers have won at least one race since 1950, which is also a record. Italy is second in that list, with 15 different race-winners (43 wins), alongside the US (15 winners, 33 wins).
